What are you looking at?
I know what I’m doing
You don’t need to read me my rights
I know my #$*@$** rights
Hailed as a hero
I’m a poster boy
a symbol, an icon
A man who had the courage to stand up
for what I believe in
I’m not afraid
I know how this works
I’ve done it all before
Yeah, that’s right. You got a problem?
I thought so.
Giving up is not an option
I will be back and back again
until the point is clear
we are the 99%

All I can do is hope to end up
with the right regrets
What the @*#% are you looking at, eh?
I am just doing my duty
I couldn’t do anything else but my duty

*Note: This poem was inspired by a photo that I first saw on this blog post here, and was written for and inspired by the Inspiration Monday prompt “Travelling by Balloon” from BeKindRewrite. I actually used the last prompt as my inspiration here, titled “All according to plan”. You can visit their blog by clicking on either of the two images:

I couldn’t agree more.
Me too.
I love that picture. His expression tells me he is aware of possible ramifications…courageous, Robin

I like the anger in this piece, and the irony in the line about rights.
Maybe you can shed some light – what exactly do the occupiers want? Are they asking for higher taxes on the 1%, or is the campaign simply one to raise awareness?
Thank you so much for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment here, I really appreciate it. I am so glad that you liked my poem here. I am no expert on the Occupy movement, nor do I claim to speak for the Occupy movement in any way, shape, or form at all, but yes, I do believe that higher taxes on the 1% is just one of the things that they want to be achieved in this country in the future…And they also want to raise awareness about a number of important issues that are plaguing our country at this time…I believe that the Occupiers want justice and economic opportunity for all in this country, not just for the 1% who own virtually all of the wealth in this country and who hold and control virtually all of the power and the influence in this country…them and the corporations wield an unacceptable amount of influence in this country, and the Occupiers want more fairness and cooperation and justice for all, not just for the privileged few who are born into wealth and status and who can afford and are given the best of everything which is all handed to them on a silver platter and they never ever have to achieve anything by themselves in their whole entire lives at all…There are many things that the Occupiers want, and I believe that a quick Google search will give you much more information than I ever could about what they want and are trying so desperately to achieve a modicum of here in this country today…In the meantime, I hope that these songs will serve to give you a semblance of an idea of what the Occupiers want and are trying so desperately to achieve against all of the powers and all of the vested interests that are so unfairly and unjustly stacked up against them…I hope that you will enjoy these songs:

Ah, sounds like an abuse of a supposedly free market one one side, a misrepresentation of the “1%” on the other, and a failure to understand basic economics on both sides.
Thanks for responding!
You are very welcome, thanks for commenting.
Well done that’s what I am talking about, you are now touching your very raw emotion and words are flowing like that river of emotions. Thanks. Cheers. Well done.
